This year marks the 5th Australian Romance Readers Convention and it’s in Melbourne – the same town where the first ARRC was held back in 2009. Subsequent events were held in Sydney (2011), Brisbane (2013), and Canberra (2015).
When we first started this journey, we had no idea if any one would come along, let alone join our organisation and continue helping to promote romance fiction and support romance authors.
I remember at the first ARRC in 2009 the buzz was amazing. So many people in such a small space were excited to meet like minded people. It was empowering and an amazing experience. We were a group of (mainly) women who were finally able to shout to the masses that we love romance fiction and weren’t afraid to tell everyone. Bookstores and publishers took notice and the industry had gained more acceptance. This was even before 50SoG
We had the best time and met new people – many who I now consider close friends.
So if you’re not busy in February – you should seriously consider coming along to the Rydges Hotel for one of the best times you can have!
The convention is an international event and will feature award-winning authors Kylie Scott, Courtney Milan and Kristen Callihan as keynote speakers. It will also include a special Skype Q&A with Thea Harrison. Panel members will include numerous bestselling Australian romance authors.
